Sen. Mike Bennett, R-Bradenton, on the governor’s budget announcement:
“Show me the money — that’s it.”
“If he can find an extra $5.5 billion, he’s the greatest governor in the world. We’re $3 billion short, and he’s coming up with $2.7 billion more — if he can find that money he’s a great hero,” he said.
Bennett noted that the governor had included money from an agreement between the Seminole Indian Tribe of Florida and the state, which is still pending ratification by a balking Florida Legislature.

“If the governor is planning on getting money from the Indians for gambling, it’s a bad, bad bet,” Bennett said. “The House won’t approve it.”
