In Manatee, it's not too late to vote early -- but you'll have to wait

BRADENTON -- Those who did not manage to get to early voting were waiting in line Monday requesting absentee ballots, one day before the polls are slated to open Tuesday for Election Day.

At times, a line of people snaked out the front door at the Manatee Supervisor of Elections Office.

Supervisor Bob Sweat said his office was trying to accommodate people.

Potential voters were told that they would have to wait an hour for their absentee ballots to be prepared, since the ballots differ, depending upon where the person lives.

Some waited in the lobby at Sweat's office, while others said they would return to pick up their absentee ballots at a later time.

The official early voting period ended Saturday, with an estimated 16,343 people casting ballots in advance of Election Day.
