The White House made it official this afternoon, sending out a release that President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden will hold a "town hall event" Thursday in Tampa.
The event is free and open to the public, but tickets are required. Tickets will be available on a first-come, first-served basis from noon-2 p.m. Wednesday at the University of Tampa Bob Martinez Sports Center.
The tickets will be available on the same day Obama gives his State of the Union address, which is expected to focus on jobs.
According to The St. Petersburg Times, some hope that the president will bring news that Florida will get funding for a high-speed rail line, connecting Orlando and Tampa. Florida has applied for $2.5 billion in funding but faces competition from other states.

"The families and businesses in Tampa will welcome a significant jobs announcement that will surely boost our state's economy," Rep. Kathy Castor, D-Tampa, who has supported the rail effort, told the Times.
