Infant dies in Sarasota crash that injured woman and 2-year-old, FHP says
A fatal crash killed an infant on State Road 681 in Sarasota, the Florida Highway Patrol said Wednesday in a news release.
The infant boy along with a 2-year-old girl were both passengers in a vehicle driven by a 26-year-old Sarasota woman, FHP said.
The crash happened at 2:20 a.m., when the driver was in the left lane traveling south on Honore Avenue and she lost control of the vehicle and rotated off the road.
The vehicle overturned on its roof and crashed into a tree and fence on the west shoulder of State Road 681, FHP said.
The 26-year-old Sarasota woman suffered serious injuries and the two-year-old girl had minor injuries, FHP said.
The crash is still under investigation.
