Bradenton man charged with DUI, seriously injuring woman, crashing into house

MANATEE -- A drunk driver has been arrested after he crashed into three cars, injuring one of the other drivers, and slammed into a Bradenton home late Wednesday, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

Guadalupe Hernandez-Lopez, 41, of Bradenton, was driving a maroon Dodge pickup while drunk and speeding in the northbound lane of 20th Street West near the intersection with 46th Avenue Drive West at 11:08 p.m., according to a release.

The front of the pickup collided with the front of a white Chevy Impala driven by a 22-year-old Bradenton woman, troopers said. The Impala was hit so hard that it was knocked 35 to 40 feet back, landing on a front lawn in the 4500 block of 20th Street West.

The pickup continued in a southwest direction, hitting a parked and unoccupied red Dodge Caravan, according to a release.

The pickup still continued in a southwest direction, hitting the southeast corner of a house in the 4500 block of 20th Street West, troopers said. The impact was so severe that both the south and east walls caved in.

The 22-year-old woman was taken to Blake Medical Center and is listed in serious condition. Hernandez-Lopez was also taken to Blake Medical Center, but his injuries were minor. There were no other listed injuries.

Hernandez-Lopez was arrested and charged with driving under the influence resulting in serious bodily injury, driving under the influence resulting in property damage and driving without a valid license resulting in serious bodily injury.
