Sarasota man sentenced to life in prison on child rape, porn charges

SARASOTA -- A Sarasota man was sentenced to life in prison after being convicted of charges related to child pornography, according to the Sarasota Police Department.

Dannie Ray Horner, 34, was arrested on Jan. 21, 2015, on charges of sexually battering a 1-year-old child, taking naked photos of that child and trading the pornographic images online with people in Argentina, Australia and West Virginia.

According to a release, Horner was charged with felony sexual battery of a victim under 12, felony sexual performance by a child -- production of child pornography, and felony transmission of pornography by electronic device.

Sarasota Police Detective Megan Buck was the lead detective on the case and is part of the FBI's Child Exploitation Task Force, according to Sarasota police spokeswoman Genevieve Judge. Buck worked with other members of the FBI Child Exploitation Task Force including Detective Kevin Bunch from the Bradenton Police Department.

Buck also worked with the Department of Homeland Security, Sarasota Police Department Street Crimes Unit and members of the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office.
