Bradenton firefighters rescue bicyclist from Manatee River

BRADENTON -- Firefighters rescued a man who somehow ended up in the Manatee River with a bicycle, according to Bradenton police.

About 7:16 p.m. Sunday, police received a call that a male "was in the river with a bicycle and was in distress," according to a report. The incident happened in the 2400 block of Riverside Drive East.

Firefighters were able to rescue the man and retrieve the bicycle, and the man was taken to Manatee Memorial Hospital for treatment.
