Bradenton man charged with hitting stranger with beer bottle at Palmetto nightclub

PALMETTO — A Bradenton man has been charged with hitting another man with a beer bottle at a Palmetto night club, according to the Palmetto Police Department.

Jose Gaspar Medina, 26, was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon after an incident at 1:24 a.m. Monday at The Hall, 1330 US 301 N., Palmetto.

The victim told police he and Gaspar Medina, who he does not know, were inside the night club when Gaspar Medina hit him with a beer bottle across the face. The victim, who said the bottle hit the bridge of his nose, had a cut and bruised face and was bleeding when police arrived, according to the report.

Gaspar Medina said he and the victim had been involved in a fistfight and denied using a beer bottle on the victim.

Gaspar Medina was held in Manatee County jail without bond, according to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office website.
