Polk County carjackers ditch car in Bradenton and are on the loose

BRADENTON — A stolen car reportedly driven by juveniles made its way to Bradenton about 8:30 p.m. Friday where the perpetrators vanished.

The Bradenton Police Department is assisting a Polk County Sheriff’s Office investigation into the stolen vehicle.

Bradenton police Lt. Jeremy Giddens, on scene by the corner of 12th Avenue West and Seventh Street Court West, said juveniles were in the vehicle but slipped away.

“I don’t know where the kids are,” he said. “I do not know the status of them.”

Polk County officials found the car and notified BPD. Officers searched the area and found nothing.

“We are waiting for Polk County to respond and they’re going to take everything else from here,” Lt. Giddens said.
