FHP looking for hit-and-run driver who struck Manatee schools bus

MANATEE -- Florida Highway Patrol is looking for a hit-and-run driver who rear-ended a Manatee County School District bus Thursday morning.

About 7 a.m., the bus, carrying a driver, five students and a bus monitor was stopped on southeast bound U.S. 301 waiting to turn right onto Ninth Street East, when it was struck by a car, whose driver then left the scene without making contact with the bus driver, according to a FHP news release.

The hit-and-run driver's car was described as a newer model blue four-door vehicle, which suffered minor front-end damage in the crash, according to FHP. The vehicle was last seen heading south on Ninth Street East.

No one was injured on the bus, which FHP said suffered minor damage on its rear end.

Anyone with information about the crash can call FHP at 941-915-9157
