MANATEE -- Deputies are looking for two men after a car chase resulted in damage to a security vehicle and an established perimeter failed to locate them early Saturday, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.
A deputy pulled into the 7-Eleven at 224 Pearl Ave. at 4:11 a.m. Friday in response to a call at that location, and a white four-door Sedan pulled out at high speeds going northbound on U.S. 41, according to a release. The deputy started pursuing the vehicle, believing the store had just been robbed.
When the Sedan went through a red light at Bayshore Gardens Parkway and 26th Street West it struck a Watchdog Security vehicle occupied by two men, deputies said. Neither were injured and the Sedan continued northbound.
The Sedan came to a stop at the intersection of 49th Avenue and 19th Street West, where the two men exited and ran away on foot, according to a release. Deputies set up a perimeter and used canines, but could not locate the men.
It was later determined that the 7-Eleven had not been robbed, but it was unclear why the two men in the Sedan were fleeing law enforcement.
The vehicle was towed from the scene. No description of the men was provided, though an image of one was available through surveillance cameras at the 7-Eleven.
