Sarasota police release video of shoplifter who stole several sunglasses from Lenscrafters store

SARASOTA -- Police are asking the public's help in identifying a shoplifter who stole several pairs of sunglasses from a local Lencrafter's store, according to the Sarasota Police Department.

Betweeen 9:30 and 10 a.m. Friday, the shoplifter walked into the Lenscrafters, 3501 S. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota, according to a news release. The shoplifter was caught on video surveillance walking into the store with a little girl, walking over to the children's glasses and then over to the adult glasses.

Police say video surveillance then shows the shoplifter putting several pairs of men's sunglasses in the pockets of his pants. He then walked out with the little girl.

The shoplifter was described as standing 5 feet, 10 inches tall, with a medium build, short, spiked gray hair and clean shaven. He was last seen wearing a red and black polo shirt with dark khaki pants. The little girl accompanying him was described as approximately 7 years old, and was wearing a sun dress.
