MANATEE -- Deputies finished searching a pond in Ellenton for evidence Wednesday afternoon in the shooting that occurred Tuesday morning, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.
Two people suffered non-life threatening injuries following a shooting in the Oaks of Ellenton Apartment Complex in the 3400 block of 16th Lane East at 1:40 a.m., according to deputies.
A Florida Highway Patrol trooper lost the suspects during a car chase, but the vehicle was later located crashed in the 6000 block of 35th Lane East, deputies said.
Dave Bristow, spokesman for the Manatee County Sheriff's Office, said the pond is near where the suspect vehicle crashed. Drugs were located in the vehicle, but deputies did not say if they found firearms. They concluded the search at 2:20 p.m. Wednesday.

A possible suspect was located near the vehicle shortly after the crash, but he denied being in the vehicle and deputies released him after questioning.
Deputies believe two men were involved in the shooting, but provided no possible descriptions.
