MANATEE -- A deputy hit a man with a stun gun after the man struck a woman and attempted to flee early Friday, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies received several 911 calls from the 300 block of 30th Avenue East and were searching the area for a possible caller when they saw a man and a woman walking west on the road at 12:03 a.m., according to a release.
As a patrol car approached the female, deputies said she began to wave her arms. A deputy exited his vehicle, and the man, 31-year-old Andy Hill, struck the 26-year-old woman in the face and ran, according to a release.
The deputy chased Hill and eventually caught up, giving a warning before deploying a stun gun that struck Hill, according to deputies. Hill then complied with officers.
Deputies discovered Hill had a warrant out of Hillsborough County and charged him with obstruction and domestic battery.
