BRADENTON -- The case against a 22-year-old man charged in the fatal shooting of his roommate is on track to go trial in June.
Kyle Guessford is charged with manslaughter with a firearm in the fatal shooting of his roommate Austin Brunson on June 7 at the residence the two shared.
Brunson's death was initially thought to be accident, but charges were later filed by the State Attorney's Office after it said it determined he was negligent when he pointed a loaded gun at Brunson and pulled the trigger.
Guessford is set to stand trial during the two-week trial period that begins June 29. Attorneys on both indicated they anticipate being prepared by that day and expect the trial to run a week. Guessford is out on $25,000 bond as he awaits trial.
