Miami Beach police have confirmed they received a call from an individual stating he shot four people at the home of popular rap artist Lil Wayne, though the claim remains unconfirmed and Wayne wasn’t home.
Officer Ernest Rodriguez told the Miami Herald a call came in on the department’s non-emergency line shortly after 12:45 p.m. from a man claiming to have shot four people at the Lagorce Circle home.
Around 1:45 p.m., Rodriguez said police were on-scene searching the perimeter.
“No vicitims have been found,” he said.
Young Money Entertainment, Wayne’s record label, tweeted out that he wasn’t home, and he is fine.
Just before 2:30 p.m., Miami Beach Police tweeted that “swatting,” or triggering an emergency response with false claims, is a possibility.
