MANATEE -- A Bradenton man was arrested at 5:23 a.m. Monday and charged with firing a pistol in public and trying to flee from deputies after a dispute, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.
Andre Luvaughn Dawson, a 25-year-old convicted felon, was arrested in the 3000 block of Third Street East, according to the report.
Dawson's girlfriend told deputies he pulled a gun out of his car and fired two rounds in the air. He was later spotted running from the house, eastbound on 31st Avenue East and arrested.
A neighbor said Dawson's girlfriend ran to her home for safety before he fired the gun. Dawson came to the neighbor's home and said: "I'ma show you what this can do."
He then fired the gun. The pistol was not found, according to the report, but a box of .32-caliber ammo with four rounds missing and a black gun case containing a single .32-caliber round were removed from Dawson's bedroom.
Dawson was also charged with possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, according to the sheriff's office website. He was released the same day on bonds totaling $8,500.
