MANATEE -- A 54-year-old man was shot in the ankle by two unknown men when he arrived home early Wednesday, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.
The victim came home to his residence in the 600 block of 21st Street East in Palmetto at 12:12 a.m. when two men in all black clothing and wearing ski masks approached him, deputies said.
The victim told deputies he tried to run, but the suspects shot him in the left ankle before fleeing, according to a release.
The victim was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, deputies said.

The suspects were described as two men around six feet tall, one between 150 and 160 pounds and the other about 180 pounds.
