MANATEE — A 21-year-old Bradenton man is listed in serious condition at Blake Medical Center after his motorcycle overturned in Interstate 75 traffic stopped for two kayaks fallen in the road at 3:41 p.m. Sunday north of University Parkway, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Martin Spector, 75, of Akron, Ohio, was southbound on I-75 when two kayaks on the roof of his Honda hatchback dislodged and fell onto the interstate. Several vehicles stopped to avoid hitting the kayaks, according to FHP.

A motorcyclist trying to stop his 1998 Honda skidded onto its left side, according to the report.

Neither Spector nor his 74-year-old passenger were injured, FHP reports.
