MANATEE -- The Manatee County administration building closed Wednesday afternoon due to the building's main water line being severed.
The line was severed Wednesday afternoon as part of a construction project in the alleyway behind the building, according to a release. It left restrooms and water fountains unavailable, and the air conditioning was deactivated for the day.
Other county work sites will remain open, but the administration building will be closed until Thursday at 8 a.m.
Property Management Director Charlie Bishop said repairing the water line will be relatively easy, but the fix cannot be made until later this afternoon or early this evening.
The work is being done in conjunction with a large downtown project to install a central water chiller that is projected to save millions of dollars in energy savings in coming years.
