SARASOTA -- A 25-year-old Sarasota man was killed riding a bicycle and an 84-year-old Sarasota woman seriously injured in a three-vehicle crash reported at 12:08 p.m. Sunday by the Florida Highway Patrol.

FHP reported a 2008 Nissan Rogue driven by 55-year-old Sandra Flores of Bradenton was southbound on Prudence Drive approaching the intersection with 17th Street and a 2005 Toyota Sienna was westbound on 17th Street in the right lane approaching the intersection of Prudence Drive when the Rogue violated the Sienna's right of way, according to the FHP report.

The front of the Rogue collided with the right side of the Sienna causing the driver to lose control of the Toyota and go onto the sidewalk where it struck the bicyclist, ran through large shrubs and collided with a residence, according to the report.

The bicyclist was flown to Tampa General Hospital where he was pronounced dead. His identify is being withheld pending family notification.
