BRADENTON -- A 20-year old aunt to four children left two children in a vehicle for 20 minutes while she took two others into Walmart on Sunday, according to the Bradenton Police Department.
Officers received two calls at 8:23 p.m. Sunday about the children being left unattended in a vehicle at the Walmart parking lot at 5315 Cortez Road West and arrived to see a 5-year-old and a 6-year-old locked inside, according to a release.
The Jasmine Lee exited the store with a 1-year-old and a 4-year-old and approached the car a short time time later, police said. Lee told police that she'd only been in the store for a short while to get the children snacks and didn't think she was doing anything wrong.
Loss prevention told police that according to video Lee was in the store for 20 minutes, police said.
The high temperature Sunday was 98 degrees and the low was 81 degrees in the Bradenton-Sarasota area, according to the National Weather Service.
Lee was arrested on charges of leaving children unattended in a motor vehicle and the children were returned to their respective parents, according to a release.
