Props to volleyballers Maggie Holbert and Taylor Jones.
An ex-Saint Stephen’s setter, Holbert and the Randolph-Macon College Yellowjackets of Ashland, Va., repeated as Old Dominion Athletic Conference champions and were runnersup in the 16-team NCAA D-III regional finals.
After defeating ninth-ranked Colorado College in the semifinals, they lost to fifth-ranked Christopher Newport of Newport News, Va., in five sets.
Holbert’s Yellowjackets finished 25th in the final NCAA D-III American Volleyball Coaches Poll.
As for Jones, the ex-Manatee Her-i-cane made the NCAA D-II Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association All-Conference Rookie team. Jones and the Chowan University Braves of Murfreesboro, N.C., were CIAA tournament champions.
