Senior art show tonight for Ringling School sculptor

Sculptor Kathleen Tucker, who will graduate this year from Ringling School of Art and Design with a degree in fine arts, is having a senior art show with Jen Nugent and Olivia Posani from 7 to 10 p.m. tonight.

It’s at the Crosley Gallery, 2700 N. Tamiami Trail, on the Ringling Art School campus.

Kathleen is a descendant of several of Manatee County’s founding families. Great-great-grandfather S.S. Lamb, who arrived here in 1868, named and founded Palmetto. Her great-grandmother was Ida M. Stewart, the namesake of the Bradenton elementary school.

Family members on hand for tonight’s show will include aunts Diane King of Jacksonville and Sharon Kerrigan of Pensacola, grandmother Lenore Stewart, Kathleen’s mom, Linda Tucker, and brother, Stewart Tucker, all of Parrish.

n St. Joseph Catholic School third-grader April O’Vita, a Manatee Wildcat cheerleader who also sings in Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church choir, is 10. Cheers from parents John and Tompie.

n LRHS Marching Mustang contra bass player Eric Vega is 17.

n Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day today at Bradenton Elks Lodge 1511, 2511 75th St. W. The fun starts at noon and cover is only $1.

Among the performers will be musical groups Pooka, Hooligan, the Sarasota High pipers and the Drake School of Irish Dance.

Corned beef and cabbage and shepherd’s pie will also be part of the St. Patty’s fare.
