Pair of parades tune up town for St. Pat’s Day

There will be a little wearin’ o’ the green this weekend.

The second annual Village of the Arts St. Patrick’s Day Parade is 10:30 a.m. Saturday.

Channel 10’s Reginald Roundtree is grand marshal.

Then the 11th annual Beach Bistro St. Patrick’s Day Parade is 4 p.m. Sunday on Holmes Beach.

World War II veteran John Castelli is grand marshal, but the star of the parade for the second straight year is Judy the elephant from Bell, Fla.

n His many fans wish former PHS coach Chuck Rhoads a happy 87th.

n The Manatee County Library Foundation’s 22nd Annual Luncheon is at noon Wednesday in the Bradenton Auditorium.

Tampa author Tim Dorsey, who favors Hawaiian shirts and a humorous skein on Florida skulduggery, is guest speaker.
