Saint Stephen’s vocalist one of Syesha’s singers

Syesha Mercado has some gifted backup singers for next Thursday’s “Follow Your Dreams” benefit concert at 7 p.m.

Saint Stephen’s junior Naarai Jacobs is one of them.

Syesha’s mom, Zelda, heard about Naarai (nay-ARE-ree) and her Sarasota-based gospel group and set up an audition.

“I haven’t come down from Cloud Nine yet,” said Naarai, who also sings with Falcon Voices, her Upper School choir.

“Fabulous pipes,” said school spokeswoman Paula Heap.

The Manatee Education Foundation hosts the concert at the Manatee Convention and Civic Center, 1 Haben Blvd., Palmetto.
