Preps play two under lights at McKechnie

Want to catch a couple of good baseball games under the lights at McKechnie Field?

Come on out at 7 p.m. Feb. 12 for the Bayshore Bruins and Braden River Pirates. Then at 7 p.m. Feb. 13, it’s the Lakewood Ranch Mustangs and Manatee Hurricanes.

It’s part of the Jody Friedman Classic, a fund-raiser for the Jody Friedman Memorial Scholarship Fund, started by Carl and Carol Friedman in memory of their son.

Jody was a former MHS, MCC and Georgia Bulldog pitcher who died in a boating accident in 2006.

He was 28.

n Don’t forget tonight’s 10th annual Hurricanes Baseball Steakout and Reunion hosted by the MHS Baseball Boosters at 5 p.m. at Molter Termite & Pest Control, 5306 Manatee Ave. W.

n The Bradenton Central Library is having its giant semi-annual book sale Feb. 18-21. Profits go toward children and teen programs.

nMHS cheerleader Kadi Harbaugh is 18 on Sunday.

n Del Couch has been invited to Sunday’s Grammy Awards in LA.

The Shaman band leader and trumpet player is a member of the producer’s wing of the Grammy association, the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences.

n MHS senior and “Groundhog Day” baby Bradley Hamilton is 18.

Husband Dan, who used to be with East Manatee Fire Rescue, is a captain at the Sweetwater Fire Department and in charge of training.

Tam is working for a law firm, just as she did with Kallins, Little & Delgado.

n MHS Sugar ’Cane Ashley Cronkhite is 17.

n Remember the countywide showcase, “Yes We Can . . . Dance,” March 6 at Braden River High, 6545 S.R. 70 E.

Dance teams from the county’s high schools, some middle schools and elementary schools will perform.
