Southern rockwill rule for Toler benefit

The Bradenton Municipal Auditorium will be shaking to some good ol’ Southern rock Saturday beginning at 6 p.m.

The Outlaws and legendary guitarist “Dangerous” Dan Toler headline the “Celebration of Life,” a benefit for Dan’s brother, Bradenton’s “Frankie” David Toler, former drummer for Dickey Betts & Great Southern, Marshall Tucker, Gregg Allman and the Allman Brothers bands.

Frankie is recovering from November organ transplant surgery.

Among the performers will be Gwen Fogt’s All-Star Band, John “Smoke from a Distant Fire” Townsend, Nashville’s Johnny Hiland Band, Michael Allman, Bradenton’s own Billy Rice, and Chaz Trippy, a percussionist with the Gregg Allman Band and Gumbo Boogie Band.

Russ Albums, a popular DJ back in the day with 102.5 FM Classic Rock, and WCTQ’s Maverick Johnson will emcee.

Tickets are available in advance at Hooters, 4908 14th St. W., or at the door at Bradenton Auditorium, 1005 Barcarrota Blvd.
