The Law Enforcement Academy director at Manatee Technical College and the retired Holmes Beach Police Department chief was recently honored by the Florida Police Chiefs Association.

Jay Romine was presented with a wall of honor award for his service to the Association.

During his tenure as police chief, he served as president of the organization in 2004-2005, as well as on the board of directors and executive board. He was awarded the organizations president’s award in 2000, 2003 and 2011.

He was also recognized for “…how he distinguished himself as a legislative juggernaut in his years as the chair of the FPCA’s Legislative Committee that fortified the FPCA as a major player in Tallahassee politics that continues to the present day.”

He received the honor on August 3, during the annual Summer Training Conference in Bonita Springs, Florida.
