Supervisors of Elections offers three scholarships
BRADENTON -- The Florida State Association of Supervisors of Elections will award three $1,200 scholarships in 2015 to a political science/public or business administration or journalism/mass communication major.
Applicants must also be a citizen of the United States, a resident of Florida for two years preceding the academic year for which an application is made and accepted as a full-time student in a senior college or university in Florida. Postgraduate or second-degree students are ineligible.
Deadline is 5 p.m. Monday to the Manatee County Supervisor of Elections office.

Criminologist to headline Knowledge-A-Bull series
SARASOTA -- The next University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee Knowledge-A-Bull Speaker Series will feature Robert Agnew, a criminologist and professor.
Agnew will lead a discussion on "Race and Youth Crime: Why isn't the Relationship Strong?" The event will be held at 5:30 p.m. Thursday in USF Sarasota-Manatee's Selby Auditorium with reception to follow. The free event is open to the public.
