USF to serve up chefs on
SARASOTA -- The University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee Knowledge-A-Bull Speaker Series will feature a panel of chefs talking global cuisine at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, in USF Sarasota-Manatee's Selby Auditorium with reception to follow.
The free event will examine how cuisine shapes the education of students in the USFSM College of Hospitality and Technology Leadership.
Moderated by ABC7 Chef Judi Gallagher, the panel will feature chefs Yaron Azuolay, Jamie Gregorich, Darwin Santa Maria, Giuliano Hazan and USFSM alumna Sheena Maini.
Suncoast Technical College plans community picnic
SARASOTA -- Suncoast Technical College will host a free community picnic from 10 a.m.-noon Saturday at its main campus at the corner of Proctor and Beneva roads.
Free hamburgers and hot dogs for everyone. Winners of the free tuition contest will be named.
Sarasota schools to host student-parent info nights
SARASOTA COUNTY -- Sarasota County public high schools will hold student-parent information nights for eighth-grade students and their families Jan. 22 through April 21.
Families will learn about magnet programs; special interest academies; career and technical education; and extracurricular activities such as athletics, clubs and service organizations.
Specific requirements necessary for some schools and magnet programs. Admission may depend on whether space is available for students from outside their geographically designated high school.
USF professor to hold entrepreneur workshop
SARASOTA -- Jean Kabongo, associate professor of strategic management and entrepreneurship at USF Sarasota-Manatee, is conducting a free event for current and aspiring entrepreneurs at 6 p.m. Jan. 27 at the Robert L. Taylor Community Complex.
