Sarasota woman arrested on drug charges after found passed out in car

A Sarasota woman was arrested Monday after deputies found her passed out behind the wheel of her car, according to a Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office news release.

Veronica Posey, 37, was found a few blocks away from her home in the 3600 block of Country Place Boulevard with nearly 26 prescription pills in her lap, according to the release.

Deputies, who received a call at 5:16 a.m. about a car parked in the middle of the road with lights on and the engine running, found more prescription pills, drug paraphernalia and cocaine residue in her car.

This was Posey’s 30th arrest in Sarasota County. Her priors include DUI, issuance of a worthless check and dozens of drug charges, according to the release.

Posey was charged with 11 counts of felony possession of a controlled substance, possession of cocaine and possession of narcotics equiment. She was released on Monday on $18,500 bond.
