Bradenton woman charged with shoplifting concealed Xanax pills in her buttocks

MANATEE -- A Bradenton woman charged with shoplifting was found in possession of Xanax pills concealed in her buttocks, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

Ginger Cooper, 28, was arrested at 1:47 p.m. Friday at Walmart Supercenter, 2911 53rd Ave. E., Bradenton. According to deputies, Cooper selected several items from shelves at the store and, while at the self-checkout register, put nine items in her cart without scanning or paying for them. The combined value was $71.27, deputies said.

According to a report, Cooper admitted to having pills in her possession and deputies said a search revealed Cooper to "be in possession of three Xanax pills in a plastic bag which were concealed in her buttocks."

Cooper told authorities that the pills belonged to a friend who told her to hold them.

Cooper was charged with shoplifting and possession of a controlled substance. She was released Saturday from Manatee County jail on bonds totaling $1,620.
