BRADENTON -- A 34-year-old Myakka City man died in a single-vehicle vehicle crash late Saturday.
James Bailey Jr. was killed as a passenger in the crash of a 1995 Lexus LS400 being driven by April Betts, 33, of Myakka City, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.
Betts told investigators that at 11:14 p.m. she was traveling on U.S. 301 in Bradenton when Bailey grabbed the steering wheel and abruptly pulled to the right, causing the Lexus to steer right, the report states.
After the vehicle moved onto the shoulder of the road, the right front struck a concrete utility pole, causing the car to rotate clockwise.
