BRADENTON -- A 25-year-old man faces several drug-related charges after he was caught dumping a large amount of marijuana trimmings in a trash bin at a Bradenton shopping center, according to Bradenton police.
About 3:35 a.m. Friday, the officer saw a vehicle pull up behind a trash bin in the 7200 block of Manatee Avenue West, in the Beachway Plaza shopping center. The driver, later identified as Christopher Stoddard, was unloading a trash can and bags from his vehicle, according to a report.
"The officer approached the vehicle and noticed a large amount of marijuana plants in the bags," the report states.

growing and selling marijuana out of a residence in the 3600 block of 59th Street Drive West.
"Mr. Stoddard stated that he was afraid that he was in danger of being discovered and decided to get rid of the evidence of the marijuana grow," a police report states. "Mr. Stoddard went on to explain that he sells the weed he grows and nets approximately $500 a week in marijuana sales."
Police executed a search warrant at the residence and found a large amount of marijuana grow equipment and a small amount of marijuana, according to the report.
Stoddard faces charges of growing and selling marijuana; and possessing marijuana with intent to distribute. He is being held at the Manatee County jail on bonds totaling $10,500.
