SARASOTA -- Deputies have arrested 11 people before the holiday weekend as part of their Operation Roadway Round-Up, a program that targets people with traffic related warrants, according to the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office.
The 11 people were wanted on charges of driving under the influence, failure to appear in court and contempt of court, according to a release. Deputies originally had 100 warrants that were actionable but cleared some during research prior to the operation.
"With traffic being the primary complaint we receive, efforts like this to remove drivers who have already violated the law, and in most cases are refusing to participate in the court system, make the roadways safer for the rest of us," said Sarasota Sheriff Tom Knight.
