MANATEE -- Detectives are investigating a death after the body of a 26-year-old man was found in a Bradenton pond Monday night, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.
Residents of the Golf Lakes Estate Mobile Home Park in the 5000 block of Fifth Street East called law enforcement at 7:40 p.m. Monday after they found a laptop computer near a pond on the property, according to a release.
When deputies arrived, they said they saw a duffel bag that seemed to be resting on top of something in the pond and tire tracks leading into the water.
The Manatee County Sheriff's Office Dive Team was called out and located a vehicle submerged in the pond and the body of Michael McDonald, of Davenport, near the car, according to a release.

Detectives said they learned a tow truck was called to the scene earlier, but left when employees didn't see anything in the area. Detectives believe McDonald was trying to retrieve personal items from his vehicle when he drowned.
