SARASOTA -- The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office will join a national crackdown on boating under the influence during Operation Dry WaterJune 26-28.
Law enforcement will look for boaters under the influence and removing them from the water to reduce the number of accidents and deaths due to impaired boating.
"Protecting the public goes to the heart of our mission, and it is our job to identify and remove drunk or impaired boaters," said Sheriff Tom Knight. "We're participating in Operation Dry Water so everyone else can have a great weekend on the water."
In Florida it is illegal to operate a vessel with a BAC level of .08 or higher - the same as it is to operate a vehicle.
