Manatee County Sheriff's Office says fake plumber stole wallet, used credit cards

MANATEE -- Detectives are searching for a man who posed as a plumber to steal an elderly man's wallet and later used his credit cards, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

On April 30, the suspect went to a home on Red Maple Road in Bradenton pretending to be a plumber, according to a news release. The victims, a couple in their 80's, told the suspect they had not called for a plumber, but it took several minutes before he left the house claiming he was going to verify the address with his boss.

The suspect then got into his pick-up truck and left. It was then the man realized his wallet was missing and they called the sheriff's office to report it.

The victim's credit cards were used at several locations in the Bradenton area, including an ATM at a bank on Cortez Road, the release states. Detectives were able to obtain photos of the suspect at the ATM from the bank.

The suspect could be driving a black or dark blue Ford F250 extended cab pickup truck.
