Sarasota man charged with exposing himself to 13-year-old girl

SARASOTA --A Sarasota man was arrested Tuesday morning after he he exposed himself to a 13-year-old girl on her way to school, according to the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office.

Erik Lars Svenson, 30, was charged with lewd and lascivious exhibition. He is currently being held on a $7,500 bond.

The 13-year-old girl told deputies that she was walking near the intersection of Grand Cayman Drive and Lords Avenue in Sarasota when a Suzuki SUV passed by her twice with its windows down, according to a news release. The suspect eventually stopped, exposed himself and asked the victim if she liked what she saw.

The girl yelled "no" and ran to a friend's house, the report states.

When deputies arrived to the scene, the SUV passed by again and the girl pointed it out to them. The vehicle was stopped and the driver, Svenson, closely matched the description and then victim later positively identified him, according to the sheriff's office.

Svenson's prior arrests include for charges of drug possession, probation violations and contempt of court.
