ST. PETERSBURG -- A SWAT team responded to a home Tuesday morning in St. Petersburg after a woman called a friend to report she was being held at gunpoint in the home.
The situation ended peacefully about two hours later with a 20-year-old man being taken into custody by St. Petersburg police.
According to police, a call came in at 5:30 a.m. from a man saying his female friend was being held at a home in the 5900 block of 13th Street North.
A short time later, officers and SWAT members surrounded the home and made contact with a suspect, Casey Joseph Lowe. Authorities also determined that Lowe was in the home with the woman, his mother and 15-year-old sister.

Lowe would not let the woman leave the home but eventually came out himself, surrendering without incident to police. There were no injuries reported and a handgun was recovered at the scene.
Investigators said the woman was a paid escort and had gone to the home at Lowe's request. A disagreement followed over payment and Lowe grabbed a gun and wouldn't let the woman leave.
The woman was able text her friend who was waiting in a car down the street. He called the police.
Lowe was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and false imprisonment.
