A Brandon man was arrested on arson charges early Sunday after firefighters extinguished a blaze at his home.
Hillsborough County Fire Rescue was dispatched to 628 Ephrata Dr. just after midnight and found heavy smoke and flames coming from the roof of the one-story concrete block house. The homeowner had been able to escape safely, and firefighters put out the fire in about 30 minutes.
Investigators using an arson dog from Clearwater Fire & Rescue determined the fire was set intentionally, authorities said. The homeowner, 31-year-old Timothy Ewers, was arrested and taken to the Hillsborough County jail.
Hillsborough County Property records lists the 1,700-square-foot home's owners as Timothy and Lindsey Ewers.
