4 Sarasota teens charged with felony burglary after string of cars rifled

SARASOTA -- The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office arrested four juveniles between the ages of 14 and 16 in connection with a string of vehicle burglaries just before 8 a.m. Sunday.

Deputies responded to a burglary in progress reported by a resident on Cedar Oak Boulevard in Sarasota and stopped the suspects' vehicle near Oak View Drive and McIntosh Road. The victim confirmed 16-year-old Jarod Diesen, one of the teens in the vehicle, was the suspect he saw rummaging through his car.

Diesen, his 14-year-old brother, Conner, 15-year-old Parker Beard and 14-year-old Sydney Gordon admitted driving along Center Point Circle, Sandy Point Drive and Cedar Oak and trying to break into nearly two dozen vehicles to find money to buy marijuana, according to the report.

They entered five unlocked vehicles and took foreign coins, two condoms, four pairs of glasses and $10 in cash.

Each suspect was charged with one felony count of burglary of a conveyance and turned over to The Department of Juvenile Justice, which released the teens to their parents. This investigation is continuing and additional charges are pending.
