Bradenton woman arrested on drug charges after traffic stop

BRADENTON -- A Bradenton woman was charged Saturday with multiple drug charges, according to the Bradenton Police Department.

Jessica L. Jewett, 20, was arrested at 11:45 p.m. Saturday in the 1800 block of Manatee Avenue East on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana and possession of controlled substance. According to a report, police conducted a traffic stop on Jewett for not having working tag lights while driving east on Manatee Avenue East.

When Jewett rolled down her window, police reported smelling marijuana. She and her passenger were asked to step out of the car, according to a report.

When asked where the marijuana was, Jewett told police it was in a green box on the passenger side floor board. Police said the box contained both marijuana and a glass bowl pipe.

According to a report, both Jewett and her passenger were detained pending investigation. Jewett told police the marijuana and glass bowl pipe were hers and said she had hydrocodone pills in her bra when police asked her if she had anything else on her person. A female office was called in to search and found a bottle with 13 pills inside and, according to a report, police said Jewett did not have a prescription for the pills.

Jewett was arrested. The report did not state whether her passenger was arrested.

Jewett was released Sunday on bonds totaling $1,500, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.
