Sarasota deputies looking for suspect in armed home invasion

SARASOTA -- A male suspect entered a home in Sarasota Monday night by threatening to use a handgun on a caregiver and then stole cash and prescription medication, according to the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office.

A resident in the 4400 block of Pike Avenue in Sarasota told deputies that at 10:30 p.m. a male suspect wearing a ski mask knocked on the front door and the resident's caregiver went to answer it, deputies said.

The suspect displayed a semi-automatic handgun and then entered the residence, took cash and prescription medication and then left in an unknown vehicle, according to a release.
