Bradenton police: Two suspects assault family in vehicle following bout of road rage

BRADENTON -- Following a bout of road rage, two suspects vandalized a vehicle, assaulted a father in the front seat and caused minor injuries to children sitting in the back, according to the Bradenton Police Department.

The two adults and their two children were southbound on 18th Street West at 1:03 a.m. Friday when a vehicle passed them at a high speed, nearly striking the rear of their car, according to a release. The woman driving the vehicle made a hand gesture out the window towards the vehicle.

The vehicle then pulled around the woman's car, blocking her path, and two suspects approached the passenger side of the car and punched the male passenger in the face, police said.

The woman tried to flee the scene in the vehicle and one of the suspects threw a beer bottle, striking a rear passenger window and causing it to shatter, according to the release. Some shards of glass struck a child in the face, causing small cuts.

The two suspects fled the area and were described as two males with gold teeth driving a compact vehicle.
