Bradenton police: Witnesses chase, detain suspect breaking into cars

BRADENTON -- Watchful citizens managed to chase and detain a suspect who was allegedly breaking into cars Tuesday night, according to the Bradenton Police Department.

The suspect was breaking into vehicles in the 1700 block of 10th Avenue West at 11:36 p.m. on Tuesday, according to a release.

People who witnessed the break ins ran after him and managed to catch and detain him in the 1700 block of 12th Avenue West, police said. Witnesses also recovered a sleeping bag that the suspect stole from a vehicle and said he had thrown a change purse during the chase.

The suspect was arrested and charged with burglary.
