Sarasota police charge 5 in connection with drug sales

SARASOTA -- Detectives arrested five individuals on Friday after a search warrant resulted in the seizure of about 80 grams of various drugs, $330 and two firearms, according to the Sarasota Police Department.

Police executed a search warrant at a residence located in the 2000 block of 9th Street in Sarasota based on information that drug sales were occurring there, according to a release.

Police found approximately 70 grams of marijuana, five grams of rock cocaine, two grams of powder cocaine, four grams of prescription pills, $330, a .22-caliber revolver and a rifle.

Police arrested Sarasota residents Jose Avalos, 22, Lisa F. Bryan, 49, James R. Fedee, 33, Frederick T. Taylor, 40, and Ashley N. Clarke, 26, on charges of drug possession with intent to sell, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving with a suspended license, according to a release.

Avalos, Fedee and Taylor lived at the searched residence, police said.
