SARASOTA -- Sarasota deputies are searching for a suspect in a home invasion that occurred Tuesday morning, according to the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office.
At 7:30 a.m. Tuesday an unknown man dressed in all black with a mask and gloves entered a residence in the 1800 block of Bayonne Street in Sarasota, according to a release. The suspect took the victim's purse, which was lying next to her in bed.
The victim's daughter saw the suspect and grabbed him, trying to prevent him from leaving with the purse while the suspect tried to flee, deputies said. The victim's daughter lost her grip and fell, scraping her knee as the suspect ran.
The suspect was last seen running westbound towards Vamo Road, according to a release. Deputies set up a perimeter and called in canines but were unsuccessful at locating the suspect.
