MANATEE -- Two men were charged early Friday after one stole a vehicle and fled from officers, eventually crashing the vehicle into the other man's car that had about 30 grams of drugs inside, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.
Devaughn Wilson, 19, was driving a stolen white Cadillac Escalade eastbound on 61st Avenue approaching 15th Street East at 1:36 a.m. Friday, according to deputies. The car had been reported stolen at 12:45 a.m.
Deputies attempted a felony traffic stop at 5900 15th Street East, but Wilson fled northbound at high speeds, according to a release.
When Wilson tried to turn eastbound on 51st Avenue the vehicle struck a crosswalk signal before sideswiping a Honda Accord that was waiting at a red light to turn south on 15th Street East, deputies said.
Wilson drove another 50 yeards and turned into Pioneer Mobile Home Park, crashing into the first trailer and causing minor damage before crashing into a second trailer and knocking it approximately two feet off its foundation, according to deputies.
Wilson was immediately arrested and deputies found he had an arrest warrant in Sarasota for selling cocaine, deputies said. He was taken to the Manatee County jail and is being held on $3,620 bond.
The driver of the Honda Accord, Tyderian Jenkins, 21, was not injured, but deputies found 16.9 grams of marijuana, 11.5 grams of rock cocaine and 1.7 grams of hydrocodone in his vehicle, according to a release. He was arrested and charged with drug possession and is being held in the Manatee County jail on $4,000 bond.
No one was injured in any of the incidents.
